Eliza Ramsden, wreck
About Eliza Ramsden, wreck
Eliza Ramsden is the wreck of a three-masted iron barque built in Glasgow in 1874 for Samuel Ramsden of Melbourne, and named after his wife. The vessel measured about 151 ft long and 27 ft wide, with a gross tonnage of 415 tons. In 1875, on her first voyage out of Melbourne, she struck Corsair Rock. The ship was abandoned without loss of life, later drifted back into the bay, and sank where the wreck now lies.
