A local boat operator helps place the mooring and pick the best canyon-to-wall line for the day's visibility.
Gibson Bight is a north-shore Roatan wall dive built around a canyon and a set of shallow ravines that lead toward the main drop-off. A mooring near the canyon gives a clear route in, and the site lets divers start with buoyancy practice before moving into deeper wall terrain. On clear days, the canyon and exit channel can turn up tarpon, eagle rays, green morays, and other reef life.
Depth range, seasonality, and planning context.
Reported Depth
3m - 27.4m
Depth Note
The shallows begin around 10 ft, and the site is reported to reach roughly 90 ft on the wall section.
Best Season
Year-round, with April and May especially favorable and late fall less reliable.
Typical Conditions
Shallow canyons, a canyon-to-wall route, and a deeper section that opens out of the ravines. Good visibility makes the exit channel more rewarding.
Site conditions, restrictions, and access requirements.
Site Conditions
Safety Notes
Watch buoyancy around the canyon walls and fire coral, and keep enough gas to exit the wall route comfortably.
Access Restrictions
Mooring/canyon route; the deeper section is better for certified divers, while the shallows suit training and buoyancy work.
Legal Notes
Follow local reef and boat rules, and use a guide when running the canyon-to-wall route.
Community notes to help plan your visit.
Scuba Diving
