Sheltered boat reef off southern Bambo
Boat access is easiest through the local dive center and its lagoon departures.
îlot Bambo #2 is a buoy-marked boat dive off the southern tip of Bambo in the Mayotte lagoon. Expect a sheltered reef with small drop-offs, coral patches, and relaxed conditions that still leave room for a deeper outer slope and good buoyancy practice. It works well as a guided daytime reef dive for certified beginners, while more experienced divers can spend extra time around the coral heads and ribbon morays near the rocks.

Site Conditions
Safety Notes
Watch buoyancy over the coral patches and keep a close eye on the reef edge when you move away from the buoy.
Access Restrictions
Boat access only; use the local dive center's departures and respect lagoon navigation rules.
Legal Notes
Treat the site as a managed lagoon reef with operator-controlled boat departures and normal marine-area rules.
Community notes to help plan your visit.
Scuba Diving
Easy lagoon boat reef for guided scuba, with enough relief to keep newer divers comfortable and more experienced divers interested.
Freediving
Possible only in calm supervised conditions; the site is better thought of as a guided scuba reef with enough shallow relief for confident freedivers.
Snorkeling
Snorkeling works best on the shallow top in calm water, but the reef is more rewarding on scuba once you drop off the buoy.
