Expect a mostly shallow inshore layout rather than a depth-driven profile, with angelfish, snappers, grunts, and occasional nurse sharks using the coral pockets while turtles and rays are common in the wider Akumal area. Conditions are most comfortable in settled weather, when the protected inside section stays calmer than the open coast.
