Mahanga Bay
Sheltered Wellington Harbour shore dive with wharf remains and macro life.
About Mahanga Bay
Mahanga Bay is a sheltered Wellington Harbour shore dive on the Miramar Peninsula, where old wharf remains, mussel lines, weed edges, gravel, sand, and scattered artefacts create an easy navigation and training site. Divers can look for seahorses, pipefish, octopus, stargazers, sole, paddle crabs, masking crabs, leatherjackets, sponges, anemones, and harbour fish while exploring slowly close to shore. It is generally approachable, but cold water, low visibility, silt, fishing activity, and recreational water-quality notices should be checked before entering.
