Patate VACH is a sheltered reef site by Signal Islet in Noumea's lagoon, reached by taxi boat and used for beginner training and early course work. It stays protected from the wind and gives calm, controlled sessions over a shallow reef and sand-bottom mix. Turtles and reef fish are common, with flounders and sand rays also reported, and reef sharks including whitetips may appear.
