About Parola/Lighthouse
Also known as Lighthouse Cove, Parola/Lighthouse is a shore-access site north of San Miguel Island with a cavernous opening, a partly submerged limestone face, and a dry section used by bats and swiftlets. The Sentinel boulder and nearby coral slopes hold plenty of small critters, while hard corals in the shallows give way to soft coral gardens and stronger flow farther out.

Parola/Lighthouse Planning Details
Depth range, seasonality, and planning context.
Reported Depth
12m - 30m
Depth Note
The site is commonly presented as a 12-30 m longshore dive, with hard corals in the shallows and deeper coral gardens farther out.
Best Season
November to May, when the dry season tends to bring calmer seas and clearer water.
Typical Conditions
A current-sensitive shore dive with a cavern opening, coral slopes, and variable visibility that can fall quickly when weather turns rough.
Safety & Access At Parola/Lighthouse
Hazards, restrictions, and access requirements.
Key Hazards
Safety Notes
Expect moderate to strong current and use appropriate cavern-diving precautions around overhead areas.
Access Restrictions
Shore access only from the lighthouse area; a local guide is recommended because current and overhead terrain make the site demanding.
Legal Notes
Follow local tourism and site rules, and do not touch or collect marine life or disturb the cavern walls.
Local Intel For Parola/Lighthouse
Community notes to help plan your visit.
Scuba Diving
Guided shore scuba is the sensible way to dive the site, with tight buoyancy control around the cavern and the Sentinel boulder.
Freediving
Not a practical freedive target because of the overhead cavern and current.
Snorkeling
Not a snorkel site; the cavern and current make this a scuba-first dive.
