Shore-access reef with fan coral and tidal currents.
Shore-access reef with fan coral and tidal currents.
Papatura Point is a shore-access reef on the right-hand side of Papatura, with a long, spacious profile that rewards careful tidal planning. Large fan coral and purple vase sponges give it strong structure, and the shallower sections are good for a relaxed reef route when conditions line up. Turtles are commonly seen along the seagrass edge, while the current can change with the tide and visibility can drop after heavy rain.
