El Monasterio is an advanced rocky boat dive with a sandy runout.
Best dived from a local Caleta de Fuste boat with a guide; shore entry is not the normal approach.
El Monasterio is a rocky Fuerteventura boat dive with a maze of gorges and openings behind the reef edge. The route narrows through tight passages before easing into sand to the south, so steady buoyancy pays off. Treat it as an advanced guided dive: the site is open to wind and swell and the current is usually moderate. Octopus, cuttlefish, rays, barracudas, and other small reef life make it a strong repeat dive when conditions stay settled.

Safety Notes
Keep buoyancy tight in the rock gaps, monitor gas carefully on the deeper profile, and expect a less sheltered surface than at protected reef sites.
Access Restrictions
Boat access from a local operator is the practical route; shore entry is not the normal approach.
Community notes to help plan your visit.
Scuba Diving
A rocky site with niches and openings that slopes into sandy areas as it gets deeper to the south.
Freediving
Not a primary freedive site; the deeper rocky passages and current suit scuba better.
Snorkeling
Not a useful snorkel target; the main structure and marine life sit below comfortable snorkel range.
