Carters Rock
Boat-only kelp reef off Holywell Bay, Cornwall
Local operator required
Boat access and changing sea conditions make an organised trip the sensible default.
Shallow rocky reef with easy training terrain, but it needs a boat and a calm sea window because the North Cornwall coast is exposed.
About Carters Rock
Carters Rock is a boat-only kelp reef off Holywell Bay in North Cornwall. Its bouldery slope, kelp cover, and sand transition give it an easy, readable profile that works well for entry-level training and relaxed sightseeing dives. The open-coast setting means a calm sea window matters as much as the shallow terrain, so the best outings are short, conservative boat trips.
