Durdle Door

Durdle Door is a Dorset shore dive with kelp, boulders, and a cave.

Plan for a long shore walk and only dive it when the sea is calm; the shallow slope and small cave reward settled weather more than depth.

About Durdle Door

Durdle Door is a Dorset shore dive below the famous limestone arch, with a sandy slope, boulders, kelp, and a small cave on the Man O'War side. It is a good training-style dive in calm weather, but the long walk to the shore and any southerly wind or swell can turn it into a workout fast.

Local Intel For Durdle Door

Community notes to help plan your visit.

Scuba Diving

A shore dive with a long walk in and out; shallow and training-friendly when the sea is flat.

Freediving

The shallow arch and beach slope can work for breath-hold sessions in calm weather, but the walk and swell sensitivity still matter.

Snorkeling

The sloping beach around the arch is snorkel-friendly when conditions are settled, with the cave and reefs close to the surface.
