TER regional trains are the backbone of a car-free trip. Cannes, Antibes, Nice-Ville, and Villefranche-sur-Mer sit on the coastal rail line, with additional useful stops near Juan-les-Pins, Cagnes-sur-Mer, Beaulieu-sur-Mer, and Monaco.

A rental car or team vehicle is effectively essential. Cave entrances, fill stations, rural gites, Cajarc, Gramat, Marcilhac-sur-Cele, Padirac, and Rocamadour are spread across narrow country roads with limited public transport.

Metro, tram and bus cover Marseille. Public transport is preferable for many Calanques trailheads in summer because access roads can close.

Outside Fort-de-France, public transport is limited and infrequent, so a rental car is the most practical option for reaching dive centers and small coves. Roads are generally good but often narrow, steep and winding, with speed bumps at village entrances.

A car is the best fit for a combined Concarneau and Quiberon dive itinerary, especially with cylinders, suits, early harbor reports, and weather-driven launch changes. Rail works well for the main gateways: Quimper serves the Concarneau side and Auray serves Quiberon.

A rental car is strongly recommended. Dive centers, beach accommodation, Bonifacio, Palombaggia, Santa Giulia, Ospedale, and Figari are dispersed, and public transport does not provide a reliable early-morning dive network.
