Seychelles diving is strongest when you compare regions instead of hunting for one single icon. Mahe is the flexible hub for easy arrivals, shorter boat runs, and a practical first or last diving base. Praslin and La Digue add granite channels, island-hop variety, and trips toward Curieuse, St. Pierre, and Ile Cocos. The Outer Islands shift the country into remote-reef mode, with healthier coral structure, walls, sharkier water, and premium expedition-style logistics.

Mahe packs more range into a one-island dive week than most Indian Ocean destinations. From Beau Vallon and Bel Ombre, operators can run quick trips to beginner-friendly granite reefs, shallow bommie sites, and accessible wrecks, then step up to exposed offshore dives where current, blue water, and pelagic possibilities change the mood completely.
Choose Mahe if you want the safest logistics and shortest first trip. Choose Praslin and La Digue if you want diving to sit inside a broader island-hop. Choose the Outer Islands only when remote logistics, higher spend, and weather exposure are already part of the appeal. Across the whole country, April to May and October to November are the easiest all-round scuba planning windows.
