When to go

Best time to visit Savusavu and Namena Marine Reserve

Savusavu works yearround if you keep plans flexible, but the easiest overall trip window is May to October, with April and November useful shoulder months.

Best overall window

May to October

Dryseason reliability with warm water around 26°C to 28°C and enough shouldermonth flexibility to dodge the strongest tradewind pulses.

Outside that window

Wetseason humidity, short heavy showers, and higher stormdisruption risk. Sheltered local reef days can still be excellent between systems.

Choose your trip style

Start with the overall answer, then switch only when scuba, freedive, snorkel, or topside timing changes the trip in a meaningful way.

Savusavu Bay and local reefs

May to October

Sheltered local reefs, training sites, and bay outings give operators options when Namena is not running.

Main caution: Late-year rain is usually brief rather than trip-ending.

Namena Marine Reserve

April to June and September to November

Namena is the offshore prize, but it is more exposed.

Main caution: Currents remain the main skill and comfort constraint year-round.
