Overview
Toulon and Hyeres combine three distinct Mediterranean trips in one mainland-based destination: historic wreck diving in and beyond Toulon's roadstead, protected reef diving around Port-Cros and La Gabiniere, and mixed-ability days around Porquerolles. Brown groupers, corb, barracuda, gorgonians, Posidonia meadows, nudibranchs, and occasional sunfish share the itinerary with celebrated wrecks such as the Donator. Most visitors stay in Hyeres, Giens, La Londe, or Toulon and join local day boats; this is not a liveaboard destination. The easiest all-round windows are May to June and September to October, while July and August bring warmer water, fuller ferries, stronger heat, and more pressure on island access. Port-Cros National Park requires a current CaPeL authorization and sticker for diving in its marine core. Wind can override any schedule, so book a capable operator and treat the named site as an objective rather than a guarantee.
