About Le Messerschmitt
Le Messerschmitt is a deep Planier wreck dive off Marseille, where a Messerschmitt BF 109 lies upside down on sand north of the islet. The wreck is battered but still readable, with the engine, gun mount, wings and landing gear visible on a short sandy approach from the drop-off. It is a boat dive for experienced divers and is best done in settled seas, because the site is open to wind and less protected than the inner Calanques.

Community notes to help plan your visit.
Scuba Diving
Boat dive on a sandy approach off Planier. Drop on the wreck or follow the wall from the north quay to the sand, then work the upside-down airframe and return south if conditions allow a paired wreck run.
Freediving
Not a practical freedive target. The wreck sits too deep for casual apnea and is better treated as an experienced scuba wreck.
Snorkeling
Not a snorkel site. The wreck is far too deep to plan around from the surface, even when visibility is good.
