Black-sand macro shore dive with dense critter life.
Black-sand macro shore dive with dense critter life.
Seraya Secrets is Tulamben's classic black-sand macro slope, where a plain-looking shore entry opens onto rubble, scattered coral patches, artificial structures, and tiny hideouts for Bali's best-known critters. The site rewards slow dives and patient eyes more than distance, with frogfish, ghost pipefish, pygmy seahorses, nudibranchs, shrimp, lionfish, octopus, and other small life spread from the shallow Top Secrets zone down the deeper sand.

Reported Depth
3m - 30m
Depth Note
Top Secrets starts around 3-9 m, with the deeper Seraya slope extending to roughly 30-35 m depending on the line chosen.
Best Season
Seraya Secrets is dived year-round, with calmer seas and clearer water generally favored in Tulamben's drier months from roughly May through November.
Typical Conditions
Usually minimal current on a gently sloping black-sand bottom, with visibility commonly around the low-to-mid teens in meters when the sand has not been stirred up.
Site conditions, restrictions, and access requirements.
Safety Notes
Good buoyancy matters here because a silty kick can wipe out visibility for the team. The deeper portions of the slope also make it easy to drift below a casual macro profile if depth is not watched closely.
Community notes to help plan your visit.
Scuba Diving
Muck diving with steel artificial reef structures from shallow water to about 30 m.
Freediving
The shallow Top Secrets section can work for calm-water duck dives, but the site's real value is slow critter hunting rather than broad scenic freedive lines.
Snorkeling
In calm seas, snorkelers can inspect the shallow Top Secrets zone close to shore, but the site is better known for patient macro searching than broad reef scenery from the surface.
