Portu Pedrosu - Sifone
Overhead limestone siphon in a sheltered fjord
Local operator required
Boat access and cave-siphon conditions make local guiding the practical default.
Boat-access cave dive; calm sea state and technical gas planning matter more than the short swim.
About Portu Pedrosu - Sifone
Portu Pedrosu - Sifone is a limestone fjord dive where the technical draw is a short overhead siphon cut into the cliff line. The site is all about boat access, calm-weather timing, and precise buoyancy through the passage, with the main reward coming from the light, the rock texture, and the cave fauna. It is not a casual swim site; the overhead section and deeper entry make it a fit for expert divers who already manage gas, trim, and line discipline well. The outside cove is scenic and sheltered, but the siphon is the reason to go.

Depth range, seasonality, and planning context.

Typical Conditions
Sheltered limestone cove with a technical siphon, best in calm sea state and suited to precise buoyancy and gas planning.
Safety & Access At Portu Pedrosu - Sifone
Site conditions, restrictions, and access requirements.
Site Conditions
Overhead environmentRestricted access
Safety Notes
Treat the siphon as an overhead cave profile for expert divers only. Plan redundant gas, line discipline, and conservative turn pressures, and only enter in sea conditions that allow a controlled boat approach.
Access Restrictions
Boat access and expert-level cave experience are required for the siphon. Calm sea state is needed to reach the inlet safely.
Legal Notes
Sea access and local skipper judgment govern whether the site is diveable on a given day. The overhead section should only be attempted by divers trained for cave or siphon profiles.
Local Intel For Portu Pedrosu - Sifone
Community notes to help plan your visit.
Scuba Diving
Enter from the deep end, work the short limestone passage, and exit at the window in shallower water. The appeal is the light play, cliff geometry, and cave fauna rather than a long swim.
Freediving
Not a freedive venue; the overhead siphon and entry depth make this a scuba-only technical dive.
Snorkeling
Not a snorkel site. The draw is below the surface and the main feature is a cave passage that requires scuba and overhead training.
