About HMNZS Waikato wreck

HMNZS Waikato is a purpose-sunk frigate wreck off Tutukaka that gives divers a structured ship tour rather than a simple drift. The wreck lies on its side and the bow is detached from the main body, so the hull, the break and the front section can be treated as separate parts of the dive. Purpose-cut openings and a mooring-line profile make it navigable, but it remains a deep wreck that rewards trained wreck divers, disciplined gas planning, and good conditions.
