About White Reef

White Reef is a beginner-friendly dive and snorkel reef in Deep Water Cove, formed from pale rock and protected by the Maunganui rahui. The reef has recovered from kina-barren rock into a healthy, kelp-covered site, so the appeal is easy structure and strong fish life rather than depth. Expect Hiwihiwi, wrasse, snapper, eagle rays and other schooling fish, with calm days giving the best view of the reef.
