Almeida Carvalho (Wreck) is a Portuguese Navy vessel intentionally scuttled in the Ocean Revival underwater park off the Algarve coast, where its upright structure now works as a large artificial reef. Divers visit for a clean wreck profile with open deck lines, marine growth, schooling fish, and selected penetration opportunities, while the surrounding sand and steel structure attract eels, octopus, scorpionfish, and bream.

Hazards, restrictions, and access requirements.
Key Hazards
Safety Notes
The wreck is described as penetrable; use appropriate wreck-diving procedures and training if entering enclosed areas.

Almeida Carvalho (Wreck) is a boat-only site inside the Ocean Revival underwater park and is typically visited with local operators using the marked mooring system.
Community notes to help plan your visit.
Scuba Diving
A wreck dive to a stated maximum depth of 30 m, with potential for wreck penetration.
Freediving
Some public references note breath-hold visits to the upper structure, but the site is primarily documented as a scuba wreck dive because the main profile sits deep.
Snorkeling
This is not generally presented as a snorkel site because the wreck is offshore and the main structure lies too deep for casual surface use.
