Peniche/Berlengas dive center with reserve access framing.
Ilhéu Maldito
Berlengas cave-and-channel dive with blue water and fish life.
About Ilhéu Maldito
Ilhéu Maldito is a calm-day Berlengas dive where the rock and island form a blue-water channel with caves, including one of the archipelago's biggest. The route is dramatic but straightforward on settled days, with the sheltered bay side giving way to a more open line along the east face. Triggerfish in season, seabream schools, and a strong mix of morays, octopus, nudibranchs, and other small life make it a rewarding reserve dive. It is best planned as a boat outing when the sea is flat enough to keep the cave mouths and channel manageable.

Safety & Access At Ilhéu Maldito
Hazards, restrictions, and access requirements.
Key Hazards
Safety Notes
Only plan the cave mouths when the sea is calm and the east face is settled. Keep the dive conservative and do not force the site on a marginal weather day.
Access Restrictions
Boat access only through reserve-aware operators; the east side is weather-sensitive enough that a calm window is essential.
Legal Notes
Plan this as a reserve boat dive with operator-led access in a protected marine area.
