North Siladen slope with big coral and current-driven life.
North Siladen slope with big coral and current-driven life.
Siladen Utara is a current-sensitive north-Siladen slope that trades Bunaken's classic vertical wall for a long coral run into deeper water. Huge coral heads, sea fans, and sandy patches break up the reef, and the site can swing from manageable to strongly flowing depending on the day. When the water is clear, it rewards divers with turtles, bigger fish passes, and plenty of smaller reef life.

Depth range, seasonality, and planning context.
Reported Depth
5m - 50m
Depth Note
Gentle slope to 50m before dropping deeper; the recreational dive band is the 5-30m part of the reef.
Best Season
Year-round, with May to October usually the clearest water.
Typical Conditions
Long coral slope with sandy patches and pebbles; current can run hard enough to make the site drift-like on some days.
Hazards, restrictions, and access requirements.
Key Hazards
Safety Notes
Treat Siladen Utara as a day-by-day current site and follow the boat pickup plan closely.
Access Restrictions
Boat access through Siladen or Bunaken resorts; park rules apply.
Legal Notes
Inside Bunaken National Park, so park rules and local operator requirements apply.
Community notes to help plan your visit.
Scuba Diving
Plan a slope dive rather than a classic wall: the reef drops away gradually and the day’s flow decides how much of it you can comfortably cover.
Freediving
Possible only on calm days and for trained freedivers; the site is mainly a boat scuba reef.
Snorkeling
Snorkeling is limited to the calmer, shallow edge; the main slope is better by scuba.
