Bonaire is one of the Caribbean's clearest cases of a destination built around scuba rather than merely offering it. More than 80 marked sites, many on the west coast and around Klein Bonaire, let you shape your own trip around shore entries, house reefs, and selected boat dives. The leeward side stays relatively manageable for independent diving, while signature names such as Hilma Hooker, Salt Pier, Angel City, and Bari Reef give you real repeat-dive value instead of a one-and-done checklist. If you want a more technical or exposed change of pace, specialist east-coast operators add surge, drift, and larger-animal energy that feels totally different from the calm west side.

- Book around the shore-diving workflow, not around boat departure boards. A pickup truck, tank package, and lodging with rinse and storage space are usually a better starting point than piling on guided dives. Many visitors add only a few boat dives for Klein Bonaire or the east coast.
