Overview

A remote Coral Triangle liveaboard route of jungle cuts, fish-choked walls, village anchorages, and World War II wrecks

The Solomon Islands liveaboard circuit is for divers who want the Pacific to feel wild again. Most signature trips begin in Honiara and use a vessel to link the Florida Islands, Russell Islands, Mary Island, Marovo Lagoon, and sometimes Western Province. The route mixes shallow coral gardens, cathedral-like cuts such as Leru Cut, schooling jacks and barracuda at Mary Island, World War II aircraft and shipwrecks near Tulagi and Iron Bottom Sound, and macro life on night dives. Land-based extensions in Munda, Gizo, Uepi, and Tetepare are excellent, but the classic circuit is liveaboard-led because the best sites are scattered, village-managed, and far from normal day-boat logistics.

What Makes It Special

  • Remote liveaboard reach

A vessel links island groups that would be awkward or impossible to combine from shore, including the Russell Islands, Mary Island, Florida Islands, and Marovo Lagoon.

  • Coral Triangle biodiversity

Healthy hard coral, schooling reef fish, macro life, turtles, rays, reef sharks, and occasional pelagics make the route feel more exploratory than resort circuits.

  • World War II history

Guadalcanal, Iron Bottom Sound, Tulagi, Munda, and Gizo hold aircraft, shipwrecks, submarines, shore relics, and battlefield stories above and below the water.

  • Caves, cuts, and jungle light

Sites such as Leru Cut and Mirror Pond create the classic Solomon Islands image: divers inside limestone slots with shafts of light and rainforest overhead.
