Baung Penyu Conservation Site / Goa is a shallow inshore Padang Bai restoration dive built over an older damaged reef where coral has been attached to metal frames and artificial structures to restart cover. The seabed around the planted sections is still a mix of rubble and sand, so the draw is watching a recovering habitat fill back in with fish rather than diving an untouched reef wall. It works best as a slow observation dive close to town. Divers come here to inspect the restoration structures, look for small reef life using the new growth for shelter, and see how coral planting is gradually changing the character of the site.
