Operator planning guide covering local current windows and seasonal visibility context.
Addu Manta Point
Advanced boat drift to a year-round manta cleaning station.
Local operator required
Current timing, channel traffic, and boat pickup logistics make local operator planning the practical standard.
About Addu Manta Point
Addu Manta Point is a boat-accessed channel drift on the eastern side of Maa Kandu, where a broad coral plateau and well-used cleaning station draw reef mantas through the current line. Divers usually drop outside the channel, drift in with the incoming flow, and settle in to watch mantas, reef sharks, eagle rays, turtles, and other big-fish traffic move across the entrance. The site is at its best when the current timing is right and local guides can set the entry cleanly. Even in calmer months it remains an advanced, current-shaped dive where reef hooks, SMBs, and tight boat support are standard rather than optional.

Safety & Access At Addu Manta Point
Hazards, restrictions, and access requirements.
Key Hazards
Safety Notes
Dive this site with a local guide on the planned current window. Strong tidal flow, boat traffic through Maa Kandu, and mid-drift pickup expectations make a reef hook and SMB standard equipment.
Access Restrictions
This site is normally dived from a boat on a timed current window in Maa Kandu. Independent entry is not the standard approach, and local operator coordination is the practical norm.
Legal Notes
Addu Manta Point sits inside a protected-area setting in Addu, so follow local protected-area guidance and any operator briefings around controlled-use zones and wildlife interactions.
Local Intel For Addu Manta Point
Community notes to help plan your visit.
Scuba
This is a current-managed boat dive where guides usually stage the drop outside the channel and drift inward to the manta cleaning area. Reef hooks and SMBs are standard kit, not optional extras.
Freedive
Not a standard freedive site; most trips are run as current-timed scuba drifts to the cleaning station.
Snorkel
Not a routine snorkel site for most visitors because the plan depends on boat positioning and moving current at the channel entrance.
