About Tuble Sanctuary
Tuble Sanctuary is a wall dive on the southwestern coast of Cebu in Moalboal, where the reef begins in very shallow water and the wall drops steeply away. The wall carries dense sea fan and soft coral growth in red and yellow along its face, and a small cave feature sits at the lower section of the wall. The site is a protected marine sanctuary and supports a strong mix of macro and larger reef life: nudibranchs, pygmy seahorses, pipefish, and scorpionfish occupy the wall in detail, while sea snakes move along the reef edge and large parrotfish, schools of razorfish, and anthias work the current at the wall top. Visibility is typically clear enough to take in the full wall profile in one view. The site sees fewer visitors than the main Moalboal reef, giving it a quieter character. It suits Open Water divers and offers good conditions for freedivers along the shallower reef sections.

Tuble Sanctuary Planning Details
Depth range, seasonality, and planning context.
Reported Depth
3m - 30m
Depth Note
Reef starts at 3m and wall drops to approximately 25m with sandy slope; small cave at 27-30m. Best macro life 7-15m on the wall face.
Best Season
The best diving window is November through May, the dry season, when seas are calmest and visibility is at its peak. March through May is considered the prime period. Water temperature stays 27-30C year-round. The wet season (June through October) brings more swell and wind to this west-facing coast but the site remains diveable in settled weather.
Typical Conditions
Visibility typically 10-22m; usually clear on the upper wall. Current 0-2 knots, generally manageable. Water temperature 27-30C year-round. Low tide exposes shallow sections; check tidal state before entry.
Safety & Access At Tuble Sanctuary
Hazards, restrictions, and access requirements.
Key Hazards
Safety Notes
Small cave at the lower wall section creates an overhead environment; do not enter without appropriate training. Sea snakes are present and should not be approached or handled. Stonefish and scorpionfish are camouflaged on the reef substrate; maintain neutral buoyancy and avoid contact. Sharp coral at the entry point during low tide; take care on entry and exit.
Access Restrictions
Tuble is a protected marine sanctuary. Divers and snorkelers must pay an entrance fee per boat. Reef contact is not permitted. Follow all sanctuary rules communicated by local boatmen and dive guides.
Legal Notes
Protected marine sanctuary under Philippine fisheries law. Collection of marine organisms, anchoring on coral, and other extractive activities are prohibited. Visitors must observe sanctuary rules.
Local Intel For Tuble Sanctuary
Community notes to help plan your visit.
Scuba Diving
Boat entry; descend the wall from the reef crest at the shallow end. Follow the wall face between mid-depth sections for the best macro encounters: nudibranch, pipefish, and pygmy seahorse territory is on the wall between the upper section and the shelf. Deeper sections and the small cave are for divers with appropriate experience. Light current is typical; plan the dive into any current first.
Freediving
The upper reef and shallow wall sections are good freedive territory. The protected bay and light current make conditions suitable for repetitive dives along the reef top. Interesting marine life in the snorkel to moderate depth range including turtles, large parrotfish, and razorfish schools. Avoid the cave section.
Snorkeling
Snorkeling is possible from the boat over the shallow reef sections. Coral coverage and fish life are accessible in the upper water column. Local boatmen guide snorkel visits; sharp coral on the reef crest requires care. A small entrance fee is typical at this managed sanctuary.
