About Mordor

Mordor is a volcanic lava-labyrinth dive site on the Los Cancajos side of La Palma. The route runs through giant lava blocks, arches, chimneys, and gullies, with a deeper line toward garden eels or a shallower line into a lava tunnel. It is a sheltered east-coast shore dive, but the maze-like terrain and overhead sections call for careful navigation and calm-water timing.

Local Intel For Mordor

Community notes to help plan your visit.

Scuba Diving

Best as a guided shore scuba route with two options: stay shallower into the lava tunnel or take the deeper line toward garden eels.

Freediving

Not a primary freedive target because of the overhead section and route complexity; use only if you are comfortable with the site and conditions.

Snorkeling

The broader Los Cancajos bay is snorkel-friendly, but Mordor itself is mainly a scuba route because of the lava labyrinth and tunnel.
