Guided Jaizkibel boat dive with slab-and-canyon relief, cave-like passages, and modest visibility that favors calm winter windows.

About Tambo

Tambo is a Jaizkibel slab-and-canyon dive with cave-like passages, deep cuts, and a route that rewards calm seas and good buoyancy. The main attraction is the terrain: east-west slabs cut by north-south canyons, large rock features, and a few squeeze-like passages between the rocks. Marine life is secondary but still includes macro finds, conger eels, octopus, cuttlefish, spider crabs, and small schooling fish.

Tambo Planning Details

Depth range, seasonality, and planning context.

Reported Depth

10m - 25m

Depth Note

The shallow slab rises to about 10m, the anchor is usually around 15m, and the canyon cuts descend into the mid-20m range.

Best Season

Winter, especially January through March, for calmer seas and better visibility.

Typical Conditions

East-west slabs with north-south canyons and cave-like passages. Calm, sunny days make the route easier to read and the cave backlighting more visible.

Safety & Access At Tambo

Hazards, restrictions, and access requirements.

Key Hazards

Overhead environment

Safety Notes

Caves and passages create overhead areas; keep buoyancy tight, stay oriented on the canyon line, and do not push into less-defined terrain.

Access Restrictions

Boat access from the Pasaia side with a guided operator; plan around sea state and the overhead sections.

Legal Notes

Treat the dive as a guided boat dive and stay within the overhead-environment plan and local sea-state checks.

Local Intel For Tambo

Community notes to help plan your visit.

Scuba Diving

The dive runs across the slab and through canyon cuts, with cave-like passages and a route that needs tight buoyancy control.

Freediving

Not a primary freedive target; the deeper slab-and-canyon layout is better suited to scuba.

Snorkeling

Not a casual snorkel site; the interesting structure sits too deep and broken up for relaxed surface exploring.
