Overview

Wrecks, arches, caves, and clear Mediterranean water in one compact island chain

Malta packs wrecks, reefs, swim-throughs, caves, and limestone shore diving into one of the easiest dive trips in Europe to run without wasting days on transfers. The headline sites are spread across Malta, Gozo, and Comino, so you can pair technical-leaning wreck dives like Um El Faroud or P29 with relaxed snorkeling in Crystal Lagoon and sightseeing in Valletta or Mdina on the same itinerary. Water is warmest from late summer into autumn, visibility is often excellent, and the island chain is compact enough that a split stay can unlock very different underwater personalities.

What makes Malta special is variety over raw pelagic spectacle. You come for clear Mediterranean water, dramatic geology, easy shore access, and a deep bench of licensed dive centres that can pivot between training, guided shore dives, wreck days, and Comino or Gozo boat trips.

What Makes It Special

  • Compact Logistics

Airport arrival, town check-in, and your first shore dive can realistically happen on the same day if flights line up.

  • Structure-Rich Diving

Malta specializes in wrecks, arches, tunnels, reef cracks, and limestone geology rather than big-animal dependency.

  • Three Islands, One Trip

Malta, Gozo, and Comino each feel different, so even a week-long itinerary stays varied.

  • Strong Mixed-Group Appeal

UNESCO cities, cliff walks, prehistoric temples, and boat excursions make it easy to travel with non-divers.
