Shallow Magawish reef with two ergs and a coral garden.
Boat access from Hurghada is the normal way to reach Shaab Petra.
Shaab Petra is a shallow Magawish-area reef where two ergs rise from the sand and leave a coral garden between them. The route feels straightforward and open, with the eastern side carrying the richer coral and fish life while the western side softens into sand. It is a good boat dive for beginners and snorkelers when the sea is calm, but windy days can still make the site choppy. Expect bannerfish, lionfish, scorpionfish, angelfish, barracuda, goatfish, sweetlips, shrimp, and turtles.
