About La Zélée, Tahiti
This site lies near the port area of Papeete and features the scattered remains of a small French gunboat wreck, broken into several sections. The vessel was launched in 1899 and sank in 1914 during the Battle of Papeete. Coral growth has developed across the wreckage and the area attracts many lagoon fish along with resting sharks. A rose-shaped coral formation can be seen around 25–27 m.
