Carriacou reef dive with a wreck, boulders, and bubbles.
Carriacou reef dive with a wreck, boulders, and bubbles.
Mabouya Whirlpool is a south-side Carriacou reef dive with a small wreck, a volcanic boulder garden, and gas bubbles rising from the seabed. Despite the name, the site is described as calm and beginner-friendly, with a gentle island slope that makes it better for slow reef exploration than for chasing current. Expect a healthy reef, coral and sponge growth, and a mix of Caribbean fish, turtles, stingrays, and nurse sharks on good days. The best version of the dive is unhurried: follow the reef, look into the boulders and wreck structure, and let the volcanic detail add character rather than difficulty.
