Amilla Fushi
House-reef blue hole with rays, reef sharks, and a swim-through.
About Amilla Fushi
Amilla Fushi is the resort's signature blue-hole feature on the main house reef, where a shallow chimney drops through the reef and opens into a short swim-through. The site works as a relaxed snorkel or guided scuba stop when conditions are settled, with reef structure close to the island and a more exposed outer edge that changes the feel of the dive. Rays, blacktip reef sharks, moray eels, lionfish, and everyday reef fish give the spot more life than its compact footprint suggests. The appeal is the mix of easy access and a distinctive overhead feature, but current and the enclosed exit mean it is best treated as a current-aware reef dive rather than a casual swim-through.

Safety & Access At Amilla Fushi
Hazards, restrictions, and access requirements.
Key Hazards
Safety Notes
Take the local briefing before entering the outer reef, and treat the chimney as an overhead feature that needs calm buoyancy and clear turn points. Conditions can shift quickly on the exposed side, so stronger current or hesitant surface support are good reasons to keep the dive shallow and simple.
Access Restrictions
Guests receive a safety briefing before swimming or snorkelling the outer reef, and fishing or crabbing is not allowed around the Amilla house reef.
Legal Notes
Amilla sits in Baa Atoll's UNESCO Biosphere Reserve setting, so dives and snorkels should follow resort guidance and local marine-life protection rules.
Local Intel For Amilla Fushi
Community notes to help plan your visit.
Scuba
Most divers visit Blue Hole as a short guided reef dive, using the shallow rim to settle in before deciding whether the chimney and exit feel appropriate for the day's conditions. It rewards tidy buoyancy, a calm descent, and disciplined spacing in the overhead section.
Snorkel
The blue-hole side of the house reef can also be snorkelled when the surface is settled, with reef life and the chimney rim close enough to appreciate without committing to the swim-through.
Chill / Non-diver
Characterized as a nice spot for a leisurely dive.
