Putahataha Island
About Putahataha Island
A rocky, kelp-covered reef that starts around 10 m on the sheltered side of the island and gradually drops to about 18–25 m as you work your way around toward the seaward side. A standout feature is an underwater cavern with an entrance roughly 5 m wide. Marine life is described as abundant, including large snapper and a variety of reef fish, along with mottled, mosaic, and yellow moray. Packhorse crayfish and nudibranchs are also commonly seen.
