About Countess of Erne
A historic paddle steamer from the late 1800s, later used as a coal barge to service battleships inside the harbour. In 1935 it broke from its moorings and was driven onto the breakwater, where the wreck still lies. The wreck sits upright on a silty seabed with open holds that divers can swim through, making it a straightforward site for exploration and skills practice.
