Corridas: near-shore pinnacles and ray sightings
Corridas: near-shore pinnacles and ray sightings
Corridas is a near-shore dive on the Coco Bay side of Guanacaste, built around two small pinnacles rising from sand. The layout is simple enough to cover in one dive, and the rocks routinely pull in rays, frogfish, pufferfish, and octopus. It is a condition-sensitive outing: visibility can fade after runoff, so settled water makes the site far better.

Depth range, seasonality, and planning context.
Reported Depth
14m - 24m
Depth Note
Two close pinnacles in sand; common dive profiles sit around 14-24 m and can be completed in one dive.
Best Season
May-November for clearer water; year-round diveable.
Typical Conditions
Near-shore bay water with a simple route and frequent visibility swings. Settled days are best; runoff can flatten the site quickly.
Hazards, restrictions, and access requirements.
Key Hazards
Safety Notes
Watch the sand-to-rock transitions and keep a conservative turnaround if visibility drops. The site reads simply on a map, but clarity can change the dive quickly.
Community notes to help plan your visit.
Scuba Diving
Two nearby pinnacles can be explored together in a single dive.
Freediving
Not a primary freedive target; the site is better treated as a scuba outing than a dedicated line spot.
Snorkeling
Only in very calm water; the near-shore rocks are the draw, but Corridas is mainly a scuba site.
