Conger Alley
Sheltered shore dive on Loch Long
About Conger Alley
Conger Alley is a sheltered shore dive on Loch Long with a short roadside walk-in, a boulder-slope profile, and a lot of temperate marine life. It works well as a practical training site when buoyancy is under control, but the silty bottom means the cleaner line is the better line. Conger eels tucked under the rocks are the headline species.

Safety & Access At Conger Alley
Hazards, restrictions, and access requirements.
Key Hazards
Safety Notes
Keep buoyancy tight to avoid silt-outs, use a torch to pick through the cracks, and stay aware of offshore nets or creels in the loch.
Access Restrictions
Use the lay-by or other legal roadside parking, and cross the A83 only with care because the road is fast and the entry point is a short walk away.
Legal Notes
Do not block the A83 or park in unsafe verge spots; follow local access and shoreline rules.
Local Intel For Conger Alley
Community notes to help plan your visit.
Scuba
A straightforward shore dive with a boulder slope, shallow reef life near the entry, and deeper rockier sections where the conger eels tend to hold.
Freedive
Not a primary freedive target because the water is cold, the bottom silts easily, and the site is best enjoyed with careful scuba planning.
Snorkel
The shallow edge can be snorkeled in calm water, but the site is mainly a scuba dive and the deeper structure is not snorkel-focused.
