The James Eagan Layne is a wreck in Whitsand Bay that sank after being damaged near the Eddystone reef and towed toward Plymouth. The stern collapsed during the tow, and the ship now rests upright on a sandy seabed. The wreck supports marine life, including large sheets of white anemones along the port side and colonies of dead man’s fingers.
