About Monkey Reef
Monkey Reef is a small but scenic coral reef in Kubu on Bali's northeast coast, reached by a rocky beach entry that quickly turns into sand and a sloping coral garden. The left-hand reef line is the best route, with more structure and bigger marine life farther out. It suits relaxed scuba and confident freediving when the mornings are calm, but the entry is better handled with slow buoyancy and a deliberate swim out. Expect a photogenic reef with plenty of small life and the occasional larger fish on the deeper slope.

Scuba Diving
A shore dive with a rocky start, then a coral slope that opens out into deeper reef for divers who want a longer, photogenic swim.

Possible for confident freedivers in calm water, but the rocky entry and swim-out make scuba the easier fit.
Snorkeling
Only a calm-day option close to shore; most visitors will prefer scuba because of the rocky entry and swim-out.
