About Laem Thong
Laem Thong: The Northern Sanctuary Located at the tranquil northern tip of Koh Larn, Laem Thong is a hidden gem for macro lovers and shark enthusiasts alike. This sloping reef offers a unique multi-level experience with specific "resident" sightings if you know where to look. The Shallows (5m): Peer under the massive Diploastrea (honeycomb) coral heads in the shallow sunlit zone; this is a favorite nursery for juvenile Bamboo sharks seeking shelter during the day. The Mid-Section (12m): As you hit the 12m mark, the reef transforms into a distinct rock wall that steps down. Slow your buoyancy here—this vertical transition is the best place to spot well-camouflaged seahorses clinging to tiny fans or sponges. The Deep (14m+): Follow the slope down to the sandy bottom where concrete mooring blocks serve as artificial reefs. Check the shadows beneath these blocks; they are prime real estate for larger Bamboo sharks resting on the sand. With its gentle currents and diverse topography, Laem Thong is the perfect site to practice your buoyancy while hunting for Pattaya’s most elusive small creatures.

Hazards, restrictions, and access requirements.
Key Hazards
Safety Notes
Watch the surface for boats and jet skis when surfacing, keep clear of the coral heads and ledges, and respect the current if the point is running as a drift.
Access Restrictions
Boat access only; the point is dived from Koh Larn and the route depends on current direction and weather.
Legal Notes
Follow local Thai dive rules and SMB procedures; the site is a boat-day dive and surface awareness matters around the island.

Scuba
Drop down to 14m. Check out the bamboo sharks, then trace the wall to the left then up accross the reef to the sand where bamboo sharks are found at 5m, a perfect safety stop before traversing at 5m back to the boat.
Freedive
The shallow shelf is the only plausible freedive zone, but the site is mainly a scuba route.
Snorkel
Snorkeling is limited to the calmest shallow edge and is less rewarding than scuba once the reef steps down.
