Baa Atoll dive guide with Anga Faru shark-season and marine-life notes.
Anga Faru
Protected Baa reef known for sharks and seasonal manta action.
Local operator required
This is a protected-area boat dive that is normally planned around tide, current direction, and operator access logistics.
About Anga Faru
Anga Faru is a protected reef, lagoon, and sandbank system on the eastern side of Baa Atoll, widely known as the Aquarium for its shark activity and schooling fish. Divers usually visit it as a current-aware boat dive around reef edges and linked pinnacles, where juvenile grey reef sharks, nurse sharks, and other pelagic life use the water movement around the protected area. Season and tide shape the experience. Early in the year the area is better known for shark-focused dives and clearer water, while the southwest monsoon can pull plankton and manta activity into the wider Angafaru system. Recent reef surveys describe uneven coral condition after bleaching, so expect a mix of degraded sections, recovering patches, and more sheltered pockets rather than a uniformly lush reef.
