Opito Bay is a Coromandel shore-dive bay with a long sandy slope that makes it easy to build depth gradually. It is a strong training and check-dive site, with simple car access and plenty of room to work the bay at your own pace. Divers come here for the easy entry and the sand-bottom hunt, with octopus, nudibranchs, crabs, snake eels, gurnards, and flounder in the mix. Treat it as a low-stress local dive where conditions and timing matter more than terrain.
