Snake Bay is an easy shore dive at Boca Sami / Playa Wachi with a sandy beach entry beside the pier and a reef that starts shallow before dropping to a coral wall. The site is known for a lively mix of schooling fish, stingrays, octopus, and reef-associated species, and it becomes especially interesting around the coral-spawning season. Calm-water timing and a careful shore entry make the dive feel relaxed even when the bay is busy.

Reported Depth
9m - 40m

Best Season
September and October are the headline months for coral spawning; otherwise the site can be dived year-round.

A sandy entry leads to a shallow reef and a drop-off around 10 m, then a coral wall with generally calm to moderate conditions.
Hazards, restrictions, and access requirements.
Key Hazards
Safety Notes
The entry can be slippery, so take care on the approach and use a surface marker buoy when diving from shore.
Access Restrictions
Limited parking and shore-diving safety rules apply; an SMB is mandatory because of boat traffic.
Legal Notes
Dive responsibly in Curaçao and follow shore-diving safety guidance, including SMB use.
Community notes to help plan your visit.
Scuba Diving
The reef structure changes from shallow coral to a drop-off and continues down to about 35 m where it becomes sandy again.
Freediving
A calm-day freedive can work because the entry is easy and the reef starts shallow, but boat traffic and wind still matter.
Snorkeling
Yes, on calm days. The sandy entry and shallow reef make Snake Bay a reasonable snorkel option as well as a dive site.
