Protea Banks is an offshore fossilized reef system off Shelly Beach, best known for advanced blue-water drift diving over pinnacles, gullies, caves, and ledges with regular big-shark traffic. For experienced divers it is a serious South Coast pelagic-and-reef dive rather than a relaxed sightseeing reef.
