Near Garden is a drift-friendly Sharm reef with pinnacles and coral

Near Garden is the closest of Sharm El Sheikh's Gardens sites to Naama Bay, usually reached by boat for a drift or semi-drift dive along a steep wall lined with coral pinnacles. The reef turns into a sloping coral garden with fan corals, cleaning stations, and a shallow dead patch near the corner, so the site rewards comfortable buoyancy and simple current-aware planning rather than rushed finning.

Depth range, seasonality, and planning context.
Reported Depth
8m - 25m
Depth Note
The reef wall starts shallow, then slopes to the drop-off; the site is commonly dived to about 25 m.
Best Season
Year-round; summer is the better window for manta sightings and visibility is generally good.
Typical Conditions
Drift or semi-drift profile with a steep wall, coral pinnacles, and a moderate-current corner that can shape the dive plan.
Hazards, restrictions, and access requirements.
Key Hazards
Safety Notes
The corner current can build, and the wall and pinnacles demand solid buoyancy control. Keep an eye on the reef edge, avoid reef contact, and plan the drift before entry.
Access Restrictions
Boat access is the normal approach. Shore entry is not the standard option, and current planning matters most at the corner and drop-off.
Legal Notes
Access is handled through boat operators from Naama Bay rather than open shore entry.
Community notes to help plan your visit.
Scuba Diving
A good boat dive for divers who are comfortable with mild to moderate current and relaxed drift planning. The site rewards stable buoyancy and an easy pace along the wall.
Freediving
Freediving is possible only as a limited experience on the shallower parts; this is primarily a scuba drift site.
Snorkeling
Snorkeling is secondary here because the main feature is a wall-to-pinnacle reef rather than a shallow flat.
