Shallow Phi Phi wall with soft coral, sharks, and nearby lagoon traffic.
Shallow Phi Phi wall with soft coral, sharks, and nearby lagoon traffic.
This site is normally dived from guided day boats, and guides actively manage the route to avoid traffic and keep groups clear of the lagoon entrance.
Pileh Wall 1 is a shallow limestone wall beside Pileh Lagoon, known for soft coral color, gorgonian fans, and easy wall cruising close to one of Phi Phi Leh's busiest boat corridors. It is often a relaxed dive, but the site stays interesting because blacktip reef sharks patrol the shallows and the northern side becomes less forgiving if you stray too close to the lagoon traffic.

Reported Depth
5m - 20m
Depth Note
Most dives start shallow along the wall and bay section, typically entering around 5-8 m before following the wall to roughly 18-20 m.
Best Season
Pileh Wall 1 is used year-round on Phi Phi itineraries, with the nicest dives usually coming on calmer, clearer days and on early schedules before traffic around the lagoon builds.
Typical Conditions
Expect a shallow wall coated in soft corals and sea fans, a small sloping bay with coral bommies, generally mild current, and a busier surface zone than the underwater route suggests.

Safety Notes
Stay alert on ascent and avoid drifting north into the lagoon entrance, where surface traffic can be heavy. Use a marker when needed and keep the dive on the wall your guide chooses.
Access Restrictions
Boat access only; route planning is shaped by the busy traffic around Pileh Lagoon.
Community notes to help plan your visit.
Scuba Diving
Pileh Wall 1 is commonly used as an easy second or sunset-style wall dive, with enough depth for training and enough reef life to keep photographers and newer divers engaged.
Snorkeling
The clear, shallow water near Pileh Wall 1 also attracts snorkelers, but divers should expect a separate boat-managed route because the wall and lagoon traffic zone overlap.
